Promoting "Awakenings" , a traveling art gallery designed to encourage conversations about end-of-life care and individual choices. The art is donated by artists and will be displayed in area nursing homes, hospitals, office buildings, and other areas of public access.

Each Spring, DAPEC hosts the "Living with Grief" teleconference from the Hospice Foundation of America. Some of the previous programs have examined grief as it relates to: "Diversity and End of Life Care" (2009); "Children and Adolescents" (2008); "Grief Before and After the Death" (2007); "Pain Management at the End of Life" (2006); and, "Ethical Dilemmas at the End of Life" (2005).
In November 2007 and 2008, DAPEC joined with Dr. Susan Adams of TWU to bring a "Grief and the Holidays" program for the community.
In 2006 and 2007 DAPEC hosted several Advance Care Planning seminars across the Denton community. Here, participants were given the opportunity to discuss the importance of Advance Directives and to complete their own Living Will and Medical Power of Attorney forms.
DAPEC partnered with the Anthropology Department of the University of North Texas to conduct a needs assessment of the Denton community. The study examined the knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors of Denton residents toward end-of-life care issues. These findings were presented at a Town Hall meeting, October 18, 2005, and form the basis for many of DAPEC's efforts.
